Festember is the annual cultural fest of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. It is a 4-day event held during the third week of September every year. The 2016 edition of Festember witnessed a footfall of around 15000 students hailing from across 500 colleges. Started in 1975 as a zero budget fest, Festember has grown with the help of sponsorships and collaborations to become one of the largest and most celebrated college festivals in South India.
Festember conducts a plethora of events in various spheres such as fashion, arts, literature, and culture. It has had people like Rukmini Vijayakumar, Down Troddence (TDT), Ravi Verma of B-FAB fame and Gibran come down to Trichy to judge the events held. Festember '16 hosted all the events with a prize money of Rs.16 lacs. And the college that bags the most points wins the Festember Rolling Trophy.
Workshops in Festember are truly unique, skills are learnt, the experience is relished and artists from across the country fly over to teach their craft.
The spirit of the Hawaiian tide was felt in 2014 as specialists taught archery, Street magic, and hip-hop. The 2015 edition broke the monotony by bringing in ventriloquism, fencing and caricature workshops. The latest edition saw different cultures come together as beatboxing, mocktail making, card throwing, and many other workshops were conducted.
